The 2012 Cinema Touch Awards - ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

by
Julien Faddoul

5. The Sessions – Ben Lewin

For taking the standard "bad-body but kind-soul" inspiration script and adding the very humor and joy that so many of these kinds of movies lack.

4. The Deep Blue Sea – Terence Davies

For his decision to be more interested in the play's deeply troubled and moving characters than in "opening-up for the screen" adaptation nonsense.

3. Silver Linings Playbook – David O. Russell

For giving it all his trademark deftness and energy and for not shying away from the farcical fairy-tale it is supposed to be.

2. Oslo, August 31st  Joachim Trier, Eskil Vogt

For so vehemently taking us inside a person's head and all within the course of one day. Loosely based on Louis Malle's Le Feu Follet, it has you on the edge of your seat from the beginning.

1. Lincoln – Tony Kushner

For reminding us that no one is better at contextualising the personal lives within politics. He reminds us - as he always does - that politics is never politics, but, in fact, always personal.

Runner Up: Cloud Atlas - Lana Wachowski, Andy Wachowski, Tom Tykwer
