The 2016 Cinema Touch Awards - ACTOR

by
Julien Faddoul

5. Manchester by the Sea – Casey Affleck
For exuding Lee's defeated sadness in every cell of that performance: In his walk, his speech, even the way he flutters his eyelids.

4. The Witch – Ralph Ineson
For being able to extract vulnerability in such a high-pitch register. He does it all for the Kingdom of God, and his pain is concrete.

3. The Lobster – Colin Farrell
For a masterpiece of tone. Farrell never gets credit in Hollywood for his comic abilities, but hopefully now fat and docile becomes his style.

2. Indignation – Logan Lerman
For brilliantly recapitulating the Rothian perspective that the happy only feel at ease when the unhappy bear their burdens in silence.

1. Sully – Tom Hanks
For working overtime to create the impression of a character study rather than a hagiography. Hanks' ability to suggest genuine inner turmoil remains a cinematic treasure that too many take for granted.

Runner Up: La La Land – Ryan Gosling
