5. Silver Linings Playbook – Jennifer Lawrence
For continuing to harness that great access she has to
her own heart. Also, apparently she can be funny.
4. Rust and Bone – Marion
Cotillard
For a dizzying mix of passion and vain scorn. Despite
everything the character goes through, Ms Cotillard always knows where to steer
our concern.
3. The Color Wheel – Carlen Altman
For the enormous amount of
empathy that she gains from such an irritable character. That final scene is
such a tornado. Also, for being one-half of the year's greatest duo.
2. Girl Walk // All Day – Anne Marsen
For a magnetic and fearless
physical performance. This was the woman this year who truly stole my heart,
and she doesn't even utter a word.
1. Amour – Emmanuelle Riva
For shattering a thousand
quivers in the simplest of ways. No one was braver this year. No one.
Runner Up: Hope Springs – Meryl Streep
