The 2019 Cinema Touch Awards - ACTOR

by
Julien Faddoul

5. High Flying Bird – Andre Holland
For a fiery, pointed portrayal of a Soderberghian proxy. Those calculated pauses he finds in McCraney's script are majestic, alone.

4. The Irishman – Robert De Niro
For such an intelligent display of a confuting temperament. Frank is both slowwitted and perceptive; both a stooge and an executive.

3. Dolemite is My Name – Eddie Murphy
For a fantastic high-spirited performance that turns a standard-issue outsider-with-crazy-dreams biopic into two hours of sheer joy and revelry. Murphy reminds us he is a special talent.

2. Marriage Story – Adam Driver
For auspiciously conveying Charlie's painful disconnect from the situation and the environment that he's found himself in, while at the same time making it so emotionally clear how he got there. Being Alive!

1. Deadwood – Timothy Olyphant
For finding every note and shade. Playing a character for years helps with that, but his work in the film, eminently, goes deeper.

Runners Up: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – Brad Pitt & Leonardo DiCaprio
